What do you normally do with defected or defective products?

If you are SRP’s supporters, don’t be panic.

When there are no concrete actions happen within an individual party, it is a big event for political leaders to hold a grandeur reception for “defectors” from other parties. It’s called the big event of the month, the year, decade, etc.

The so-called press release statement is issued calling all supporting newspapers to come and witness the [special] event. The whole world will know such a cheap shot telling how bad the other party is. They make you want to know why they have spent many years working for that party, if it was that evil.

Are you surprised with Koh Santepheap’s reporting?

Important party’s member and leaders are also called to come to the event making it like it is a big deal to honor someone who “defected.” “Defected” and “defective” sound similar, don’t they? What do you normally do with defected or defective products?

Before they know it, some people [not the party leaders] will have to come up with big bucks to celebrate their victory--- a victory over partners who fight the same opponent. With a friend like that who needs the enemy?

Is it embarrassing? Indeed it should be.

However, that is what politicians do. Rather than trying to run faster to compete, they trip up the other guys to win. Meanwhile, the guys who are the frontrunners don’t have time to trip the ones in the back. Their eyes focus on their goal. They don’t even look in the rearview mirror.

… And ultimate champion is? You know the rest.

A source from the Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) said the party's MP for Kampong Cham and president of the SRP of Takeo province Mr. Mao Monivan and Mr. Heng Thuon, head of Pursat's committee of councillors, had been expelled from the party, effective from Tuesday 22nd March. Mr. Mao Monivan told CEN on Tuesday morning that he had been informed of his expulsion from the party.

Mr. Mao Monivan's expulsion came a few hours after he called a press conference on Tuesday morning calling for reforms of the SRP. He said the SRP is disfunctional because it has been run by two families: the family of party's spokesman Yim Sovan and the family of party strongman Mr. Eng Chhay Eang.

In the press conference he said the SRP is a hostage of these two families and has called for the party leadership to rescue party President Sam Rainsy from the claws of these two families. He said he has no confidence in the SRP and appealed to party members to defect to other parties that practise real democratic principles.

Mr. Mao Moniva, who had tendered his resignation as an SRP MP effective from 30th March, has said the he will remain as an SRP member after his resignation as an MP, but some media speculations have indicated he is about to defect to the ruling Cambodian People's Party.
