Air France said its passengers have given the new long-haul Business Class seat the thumbs up. The airline’s new seat is longer, wider and more spacious than before, and 26 aircraft will be equipped with it by summer 2011.
In a survey conducted among customers, 97% of them said that they consider the seat’s comfort in the sleeping position to be “good” or “excellent”. The seat has featured on long-haul aircraft for the last three months since Air France started introducing it in December.
You can currently find the new Business Class seats on flights to Ho Chi Minh City, Brazzaville and Pointe Noire. They will soon be available on flights to New York (Newark), Rio de Janeiro, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Osaka, Bangkok, Phnom Penh, New York (Kennedy) and Santiago de Chile.
The “full sleep” seat has been totally redesigned to be more comfortable and roomy. Air France said it received positive comments regarding quality of sleep during the flight, as well as the seat’s horizontal position and legroom.

The carrier has been working with Air France ergonomists and customers to make sure it provides the more comfort whilst preserving the seat’s overall size. The seat is one of the most spacious in the skies, measuring over 2 metres long and 61cm wide.

Passengers said it is easy to use and particularly liked the different relaxation positions as well as the new storage space.

According to the survey, almost 95% of customers said they would recommend it. As a result of the positive feedback, Air France said it would try to equip 63 aircraft with these seats by summer 2012.
The new Business Class seat made its debut on 8th December 2010 on a flight between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and New York-Newark. The airline has been rolling the new seats out on other flights for the last three months.

Christian Herzog, SVP Marketing at Air France-KLM said, “Air France has chosen a new Business class seat without compromising on the size, to focus on sleep quality, a key factor for our customers. The seat has several different relaxation positions for optimum comfort during the entire flight. This seat, which has been praised by our customers, constitutes a competitive advantage to benefit from the upturn in business traffic.”
