Learn About Our Neighbors: Vietnam treasures ties with Laos

"What will happen when we tie a banana tree and a palm tree together tightly?" Said a friend of mine who is very poetic and philosophical. The answer is so obvious, especially when the ties are so tight. Banana will be choked.

I the last few weeks Vietnam and Laos have been very active in there cooperation: Vietnam, Laos cooperate in publishing dictionary‎, Vietnam, Laos inaugurate main border gate‎, Laos, Vietnam cooperate in stock market‎, etc...

The ties between the two communist brothers are very similar to the ties between Vietnam and Cambodia. This should make us wonder what direction Vietnam is  traveling to in the next decade.

What kind of tree is Cambodia, a banyan or banana?

Vietnam will do its utmost to bring the special ties between Vietnam and Laos to a new height, said Party General Secretary and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong.

The Party chief congratulated Laos on the success of the 9th LPRP National Congress, saying that it is not only significant for the revolutionary cause of Laos but also a great encouragement for Vietnam in its renewal and national construction and defence.

He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the LPRP headed by General Secretary and State President Chummaly Sayasone, the Lao people will record greater achievements in their renewal cause, to successfully build a peaceful, independent, democratic, united and prosperous Lao country.
