Re: Promises and Reality- Can the oppositions run Cambodia? Cont...

Hi KY and ALL:

Everyone knows that Cambodia is one of the worst countries on earth plagued by corruption and lawlessness. The notion that the American Ambassador has no business in commenting on corruption issue is wrong. American taxpayers have contributed millions of dollars every year to feed guys like Om Yintieng and alike. American companies are doing tons of businesses in Cambodia and thousands of tourists including Cambodian Americans continue to check in to Cambodia every year. Now that they are rich and powerful, they seem to forget and "bite the hand that feeds them."

Om Yintieng's attitude towards the American Ambassador was an total embarrassment for Cambodia as a nation. Cambodians should thank the American Ambassador for reminding us that there are a lot more things need to be done to fight corruption and lawlessness .I don't thinks the Ambassador had any intention to harm Cambodia or to hurt PM Hun Sen, but in the west we like to speak the truth and more directly. The Chinese on the other hand, will kiss us to death with their contributions of money, materials and ideology.

Many Cambodians on all sides tend to love their leaders more than their leaders love themselves. Om Yintieng will always love to defend Hun Sen more than Hun Sen want to be defended. Some opposition members too tend to close their eyes on their leaders' mistakes and praise them regardless. This is one of the bad habits that Cambodians need to change. We need to accept the facts, be truthful and use critics as messengers for if we kill the messengers, we will not win the war.

Thanks for your exchanges.

Pu Tim & Bun Heang,I love to read your critical thinking and productive idea. Of course,Cambodia will not move any further under Om Yintieng and other HunSen's cronies. Several times when there are criticism of corruption, human rights violation and inequality development, Om Yintieng willcome up to oppose those critics seriously, and one of hisjustification is those critics are critical to his legitimategovernment. Is this making sense that people voted for CPP and CPP cando whatever they want? Critics cannot open their mouth towards thoseunrighteous behavior of the government?I am really appreciate with recent public speech of AmericanAmbassador Carol Rodly.Of course, the person like Yintieng will allow Cambodia move towardsthe mouth of Vietnam. In other sense, SRP sometime plays its role tolegalize and legitimize Hun Sen/Om Yintieng's government. What could we do in this situation?Hints: SRP has to be improved, CPP is not Om Yintieng, Vietnam cannotoppress all CPP's members...etcKY
